HVAC Service Agreements & the Details They Should Include

An HVAC service agreement or contract ensures the longevity and efficiency of your heating and cooling system. Before you put pen to paper, however, you should know what it should include. Here HVAC replacement contractor Stone Heating and Air explains the inclusive services and terms that comprise a typical service contract.

HVAC maintenance agreements

Equipment to Be Serviced

Before you agree to the contract, make sure to double-check everything to ensure that the parts you expect to be serviced will be covered. A comprehensive maintenance agreement often lists all of the components of the HVAC system. You can agree to have every part of the system examined, or you can choose to exclude some items. This is something you should discuss with your local HVAC technician.

Number of Visits

A typical service agreement should indicate the number of times the technician will visit your home. Some HVAC repair contractors recommend either annual or bi-annual inspections, while others like to service a unit once every three months. Talk to the heating and cooling company you plan on working with to make sure you fully understand what these options mean for your HVAC system.

Scheduling

Once you’ve chosen your preferred number of HVAC technician visits, find out how these appointments will be scheduled. Fortunately, many companies utilize software to help them schedule appointments months in advance. To avoid miscommunication, check if they’ll be the ones doing the scheduling or if you’ll be responsible for informing them before the agreed-upon date.

Cost

The last thing you want is to enter into a service contract that ends up costing more than you initially thought. Before signing the HVAC maintenance agreement, you must understand how the costs are calculated. Some companies charge a two-hour flat rate plus a fee for every additional hour, while others charge per hour for labor and parts.

At Stone Heating and Air, we believe that a maintenance agreement is the smartest way for you to ensure your equipment continues running smoothly and remains in optimal condition.
